Iris tenuissima on a stream bank beside the south fork of the Salmon River near Forks of Salmon, Siskiyou County. The Trinity Alps not far to the south signal the southern extent of the Klamath mountain range. Notice the characteristic long style crests, and the wavy-edged petals and sepals. The relationship and distributions of Iris tenuissima and its close relative Iris chrysophylla in far northern California still need a careful study. Paul Furman, June 8, 2008.
